Land Use Effect on Milky Stork Habitat Selection in Matang Forest Reserve, Perak

چکیده
The global Milky Stork population has undergone a rapid decline with current estimated of 5500 individuals remaining worldwide. In Malaysia, populations have declined more than 90% over the last 20 years and less fiveindividuals being observed recently in Pulau Kelumpang Trong, known habitats Matang Forest Reserve. GIS application is used to analyse habitat selection study area. 16 different stations havebeen choosing this research three-parameter been set which land use, vegetation food availability. From results, highest density that can be found at Gula lowest only 1 individual who was spotted. result from also shows these birds are most likely disturbed area especially aquaculture activity. This activity provided them easy access source. Research finding shown since captive breeding program implemented by Department wildlife National Park (DWNP), they lost their ability foraging wild. Some staff DWNP branch said when it rainy days, bird will come building asking for food. results show environmental factor like vegetation, climate does not any effects on Stork. situation very contrary previous studies get natural habitat.

Draft Genome Sequence of Halophilic Hahella sp. Strain CCB-MM4, Isolated from Matang Mangrove Forest in Perak, Malaysia
Hahella sp. strain CCB-MM4 is a halophilic bacterium isolated from estuarine mangrove sediment. The genome sequence of Hahella sp. CCB-MM4 provides insights into exopolysaccharide biosynthesis and the lifestyle of the bacterium thriving in a saline mangrove environment.
متن کاملReserve selection with land market feedbacks.
How to best site reserves is a leading question for conservation biologists. Recently, reserve selection has emphasized efficient conservation: maximizing conservation goals given the reality of limited conservation budgets, and this work indicates that land market can potentially undermine the conservation benefits of reserves by increasing property values and development probabilities near re...
متن کاملThe effect of land use and discharge changes on the coefficients of suspended sediment rating curve in Zagros forest areas
Extended abstract 1- Introduction The forests of the Zagros vegetation area cover about six million hectares (40%) of Iran's forest area, which is dominated by oak species. These forests are exposed to a number of threats, including land use change, deforestation, over grazing, deliberate and unintentional fires, pest and disease attacks, and climate change. Although accurate and timely...
متن کاملDynamic Reserve Selection: Optimal Land Retention with Land Price Feedbacks
Urban growth compromises open space and ecosystem functions. To mitigate the negative effects, some agencies use reserve selection models to identify conservation sites for purchase or retention. Existing models assume that conservation has no impact on nearby land prices. We propose a new integer program that relaxes this assumption via adaptive cost-coefficients. Our model accounts for the tw...
